Detecting Flashback.K with Absolute Manage

by on April 5, 2012 » Add more comments.

There are recent reports that suggest over 500,000 Macs have been infected with the Trojan-Downloader:OSX/Flashback.K malware. According to F-Secure: “Trojan-Downloader:OSX/Flashback.K connects to a remote site to download its payload; on successful infection, the malware modifies targeted webpages displayed in the web browser.”.

Apple has released Java updaters for this which you should consider deploying soon, if you haven’t already. Also, most AV’s should be detecting it by now.  If you would like to also try to detect the malware through Absolute Manage custom information item, I’ve modified a script by Hannes Juutilainen.

You can get the Absolute Manage compatible version here (if using copy/paste, you may want to view the RAW version).
